Dental fillings are a form of restorational treatment intended for the repair of tooth decay,small tooth fractures, and other forms of damage to the surface of teeth.  Porcelain composite, silver, and amalgam are the most commonly used dental filling materials.

Is there any truth behind metal fillings lasting longer than white fillings?

No, this is no longer true. Modern white filling materials are much more robust than those used in the past.

Why are white fillings more expensive than metal ones?

White fillings have a higher price, and the fitting process takes more time.

What are the white fillings made of?

As long as the treatment has been drone properly, there will no more sensitivity sensation than you would get with metal fillings.

Gold is the most durable, and strongest material used for filling. There however is the drawback that gold is expensive.

To place a dental filling only takes from 30 to 60 minutes in the visit.

AFTER TREATMENT: 

You should treat fllings just like you would your natural teeth, keep them as clean as possible.  In order to do this, you must keep a good standard of oral hygiene. This will ensure a long life for your fIllings, and prevent cavities that could otherwise be avoided.  Sweets and sugary drinks should be avoided.  Like your natural teeth you should remember to brush and floss daily.
